take me to the breaking of a beautiful dawn
take me to the place where we came from

The other day I got a box from my friends. They sent it over Christmas. It had presents, Julio's "nectar of the gods" chips, letters, eight hundred thousand pieces of popcorn packing, and near the bottom, an envelope with some polaroids in it. They'd taken a bunch of photos of them goofing around and then written captions under them. Even after I'd opened all my presents and freaked out about them, I kept going back to the polaroids.

For some reason, it shocked me, how old and beautiful they all were. Maybe it was because I haven't been away from any of them this long since we met, and I'd forgotten what it was like to see them close up, not just in my memory. But I felt like yesterday I was twelve, and today I woke up twenty, and met them all over again, wondering when did they get so old, when they started looking like women in movies.
